At the Edge of Life

I am an Egyptian writer, born in Alexandria, Egypt. I am graduated from Engineering college, Alexandria university as Naval Architect and Marine Engineer. I had a long career in ship classification and oil and gas industry. That was one devotion that took me through my practical life. The second devotion that equally or even more prominently guided me through life is reading and writing. I started developing my career as a writer since I was 15 years old, well before being an engineer. I found in writing a way to communicate my thoughts and feelings to the world around me. The more experiences I obtained from my practical life combined with extensive reading, the more my mind and soul were empowered as a writer. That is how the two devotions entwined in my personality and enriched my life's experience and the role I wanted to play to manifest my values. I write short stories, novels and non-fiction. Since 1989 till present, I published in Cairo in Arabic language10 books; 2 collections of short stories, 4 novels and 4 non-fiction books including my autobiography. I also published in Hamburg two books in English one non-fiction book over the history of a prominent German institution and the other is a collection of short stories. Beside book publications, some of my short stories and articles were published in Arabic magazines like Al Jassra in Doha Qatar. My message I am devoted to deliver through my writing is: giving hope.
